We love including local produce on our menu at Heath House Kitchen…so it’s a bit of a bonus to have an award winning Gin Distillery on our door step.
Nelsons Distillery was founded by Neil Harrison, was himself a chef, working extensively in Michelin star restaurants. He has used his expertise and refined palate to develop Nelsons exclusive range of award-winning gins.
Last week we had a lovely afternoon, meeting Zeena from Nelsons distillery and sampling the different gins and rums.
Each one of the gins has it’s own unique personality.
I loved the vanilla aftertastes of the London Dry Gin, which was so smooth and easy to drink neat.
If you are interested in trying new Gin flavours, the Timur is fascinating. It plays a trick on your senses. It has a lovely pink grapefruit aroma – it is smooth tasting, and then the heat from the peppers gently builds to create a warm tingling sensation in your mouth.
We have decided to include the Rhubarb and Custard Gin, London Dry Gin, Timur Gin, and Guggle Jug on our drinks menu. So, when you next visit us, why not try one of these gins as a pre-dinner drink.
And if you fancy trying something really special, we have also included Le Gavroche Gin on the menu. It was developed by Nelson’s in partnership with Michel Roux Jr.
Le Gavroche is only available from a very small number of outlets so we thought it would be great if our guests could also taste it. Le Gavroche combines 28 botanicals and brings together floral herbaceous and spice flavours to create the essence of Provence.
We’ve also added two of Nelsons Rums.
The Roasted Pineapple Rum is fabulous – it is sweet, with a lingering taste of caramelised pineapple. As well as including this on the drinks menu, we think that this will be an distinctive flavour in some of our ice creams and sorbets.
Finally, we’ve added the Chocolate Rum which we think will be fantastic in liqueur coffees, and rum and raisin ice cream.
